Sometimes a day is not long enough. Extend your beach bliss with a stay at Blue Apple Beach House, a boutique retreat that made The Sunday Times hottest hotel discoveries list in 2016.

  • This Is What We Love

    • A nights stay here means you get upgraded to VIP status. That means complimentary access to the best beach beds for every day of your stay
    • Forget bland and uniform hotel interiors. We can’t get enough of the artisanal decor that makes every room unique
    • Waking up to a knockout sea view with that someone special. Day guests arrive from 10.30 so you have sunrise pretty much all to yourself.
    • The top-tier seafood on offer means it’s all to easy to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner here
  • What You Need To Know

    • There are six cabins that can be rented out individually or collectively. The beach club is accustomed to holding private events in their restaurant
    • There is not a private massage room, but a secluded area away from the pool
    • If you want to build an activity itinerary to make the most out of your island stay, such as snorkelling or diving, we can arrange that for you before you leave Cartagena
    • During the day, non-hotel guests are allowed to access the property, pool and restaurant during their day pass

    Our Full Review

Anyone with a pair of eyes knew that Blue Apple would eventually have to cater to those who wanted to milk out their sun and sand experience for as long as possible. Which is exactly why a nights stay in one of their six suites is a must for beach bums with more than a day to spare.

Six breezy suites, all named after Colombian fruits, sleep up to 20 people. Rooms can be rented individually or as a whole house if you’re a big group on the hunt wanting to escape dry land for a bit.

Modern creature comforts are completely catered to and all rooms have a private bathroom, hot water, air conditioning, balcony or terrace, minibar, cable TV and wifi.

  • Tierra Bomba

Just seven minutes from Castillogrande, the white sandy beaches of Punta Arena on the eastern side of the large island of Tierra Bomba is one of the best kept secrets of Cartagena.

'Los Nativos' or the Tierra Bomba locals are proud Spanish slave descendants hungry to make a quick from their newfound beach goldmine.

They'll take good care of you and cook you a traditional seafood dish and serve up all the drinks you need to pass the day.

There's a flurry of new beach clubs springing up that offer clients a nearby escape for late-risers that can't be bothered to make the trek to the Rosario Islands.
