    Our Full Review

Covid-19 arrived in Colombia 3 months ago. Most of its cities have enacted a curfew as a measure to stop the spread of the disease. Cartagena de Indias is one of those cities. From 06: 00-16: 00 nobody’s allowed out on the streets and people are being encouraged to stay home during the day with the campaign #Quedateencasa.

The city known in the world for its streets full of inhabitants from all over the world has been reduced to an empty, eerie ghost town.

Closing the city has been a blow to everyone. Every year between 4 and 5 million tourists come to Cartagena attracted by the history and some of the best beaches in Colombia and the lure of the local hospitality. While 1 in 10 people in the world depends on tourism for their livelihood the percentage is over 30% in Cartagena.

Almost all people in Cartagena live in poor. The hungry and the despair they are around the corner. In this situation, a group of young people decided to gather all the possibles sectors in the city that want to help mid this emergency.

That's how it was born Cartagena Unida. Collecting food and sanitary implements house by house, this initiative has delivered 17,380 food boxes for the most needed families.

Each food box it has written the word "Sonríe", or smile in English, as an invitation to keep the faith in crisis times.

Since that started the sanitary emergency in Cartagena, his operations never have stopped. His objective is to reach all the poor homes that are located in the city periphery.

Although sometimes it might not be enough, the passion to help others is bigger than the difficulty.

Without payment or any salary, all the members of Cartagena Unida, among which stand out artists, photographers, cops, professionals, common people, and humorists, they work day at day helping to those that have been forgotten historically.

This time you can help too. Donating money, food, or any help, you are changing and saving thousands of lives that need us in these dark times.
